WWE fans -
I have been a John Cena hater since 2005 when he transitioned from a heel rapper (which was OK at times) to a wannabe marine. I hated his cheap matches, his pandering to the military, and worst of all, sometimes exploiting children with cancer to get cheers. I hated the propaganda of the announcers talking about "mixed reactions" when it was about 94.6% booes, or ignoring them entirely. I hate that he won 15 world titles and they've started calling him the "Greatest of all time".
And yet, with this guy Roman Reigns being shoved down our throats for 2 years now, Cena's legacy has never looked better. When you see Cena on a late night talk show in his suit, he looks like a star who's seen it all and come out the other side. Roman Reigns is the equivalent to the Rock if you trim 30 pounds of muscle, put a vacuum up his ass and suck out all the charisma, and write cheesy lines all while requiring him to make stupid facial expressions. This guy is The Rock's cousin and they are literally the yin and yang of charisma. Cena was Al-Qaeda - Roman is ISIS.
Yet WWE won't stop. In fact, they deliberately kill the momentum of the guys facing them. Seth Rollins got a heroes welcome back last week, and they turned him instantly to feud with Reigns (they did the same with AJ Styles vs. Cena. Pathetic.) They had HHH insulting the fans' families during WrestleMania season, BEGGING the fans to boo him and cheer Roman. It's not going to work. It's never going to work.
It almost seems like punishment especially with Daniel Bryan's career ending at 34. This guy was more real and more organically over than anyone since the Attitude Era. Given another 5 years, he would have been at the level of a Hogan, Austin, Rock, and Taker. Even with only 3 years at the top, he was pretty damn close.
And all we have is wet-haired, bad acting Roman. The worst WWE champion of all time (with the exception of maybe The Miz
