I had a Zoom meeting with a young (mid 30s Latina) woman at work yesterday afternoon. We sorted what we needed to deal with, which took about half an hour, and then the conversation broadened out and became quite flirtatious. I escalated a bit and she's playing with her hair, smiling, giggling at my corny jokes, being chatty, etc. I'm saying "I don't want to do any work, I prefer just wasting time with you". She's saying "yeah, me too. I like it".
We were at this for nearly two hours and she's telling me that she likes to cook, that she's thrifty with money, and that she likes wine but that she's not into getting drunk. So, I then quipped "OK, I'm taking notes because you sound like the perfect woman".
She then turned serious and said "you're not going to try to get me fixed up with a boyfriend are you, because I don't want a relationship. Not now, not ever. I want to be single, I like my peace too much". OK I said, "I like my peace too". We then made a little bit of small talk and left the meeting. It seemed like a slap down and felt a bit uncomfortable to be honest.
I've been mulling this over and I think it's pretty obvious what was going on - she enjoyed the flirting but decided to slap me down when she'd had enough. OK, fair enough, I can take the L. Do you guys agree?
BTW, I'm old but in good shape, decent looking and I've got aIl my hair. I run and do calisthenics, and basically got the body of a soccer player. I'm no spring chick but some women do still seem to like me and the woman in question has been slightly flirty with me before, most recently during an in-person meeting earlier this week. Or at least I thought she was being slightly flirty.
