Most women will play a the role they think you want them to be just before or even when they're in a relationship with you.
You'll find out more about your girlfriend when she's your ex.
You don't need to be suspicious of every little thing or feel the need to walk on eggshells over that just be the same dude who's learning and growing while never relying specifically on a chick to complete you as a man.
Take all words with a grain of salt. No anger, resentment, or even letting your head get gassed up with positive ego stroking. Remain humble but steadfast.
Actions speak louder than words. And I'm positive most men will and have learned more about their girlfriends when or if they ever become an ex as their eyes open when looking as an outsider at that point or finding out things they ignored during the course of the relationship, through her herself, or through others you trust not just haters who wanted you to fail.
Never go into a relationship with stars in your eyes for ANY chick or get comfortable as if things will never change or end. Not in a negative way, nor a paranoid way. Just be aware as a heads up.
Don't let chicks who are highly advanced in emotional and mental passive aggressive manipulation or the use of their pvzzy/looks (you'll never get someone as hot as her) tell you what they think you want to hear etc. in an attempt to control you to gain control over you as a MAN being complete with or WITHOUT her. You can aknowledge positive comments but remain in control and humble. Not like some celebrity who starts feeling themselves when others pump their ego up and then when the next hottest etc. thing comes out they get abandoned and lose it showing they were only "the best" because others simply gassed their heads up for the moment.
The longer some chicks know you the more they try to figure out which buttons they can press to get a reaction out of you. Don't let them. Be a man who is in control and doesn't play into that nonsense. If she keeps attempting it? Leave her period. Think clearly and logically as a truly confident man.
Her problems are no longer yours. She is your PAST for a reason. Be glad she showed you her true colors in the end. She did YOU a favor. Don't move backwards. Don't call or answer calls, texts, emails etc. Move on.
Don't be afraid to be single even if she finds someone before you or while with you as it could be your very same downfall of neediness and only a temporary band aid to get someone A.S.A.P if you don't learn and become a better person on your own to then move on with the next person you meet in the future.
You wouldn't as a man with common sense eat sh1t food for years, get sick from it and then immediately run out to a different fast food restaurant expecting a different result. You'd eat better food, work out, get in your best health and leave the crap behind. If you didn't learn from it you'd wind up being an unhealthy slob with no one to blame but yourself.
Your ex could be a completely different person then she portrayed herself to be while with you using a total act she put on while with you. Or they could even be the same person they were who truly cared about you.
If it's the latter and things didn't work out? Try to find someone as good or better than her. If things didn't work out in the past with an ex. It's not going to work out in the future. A man doesn't get angry or resentful of the past, it slides off his shoulders. A man learns from the past to use as a POSITIVE in his progress to grow and move on FORWARD.
