"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

The other day I was sitting in my computer lab minding my own business. Then out of nowhere came this beautiful blonde and sat down diagonal from me. She had on a very low cut shirt that was slightly revealing so I figured she wanted to be noticed.

So I kinda pondered on what I might could say to this girl. As I was thinking, I noticed that every guy that walked passed her would stare at her in awe. However they would walk behind her where she couldn't see them.

This gave me a since of determination and obligation to talk to her since every other guy didn't have the balls to.

So I gathered up my confidence and said

me: "You sure are a fast typer" (it was the only thing that came to mind, since she was typing pretty fast.

blonde:(smiling) "no not really"
me: "yeah you must have had some kind of typing class to move like that"
blonde: (face reddening) "no i mess up to much haha"

So I didn't say anything else for a few minutes. But I noticed that every time she would type something, she would laugh. So I figured this was a sign that she still wanted the attention that I was giving her.

me: "what are you laughing at"
blonde: "oh I'm talking to my friend online and its funny."
me: "so whats your name?"
blonde: "amy"

And thats where it ended. For some reason I could not find it in my gut to ask for her number. However I did feel a little better since I did at least speak with her unlike the other 5 guys that were scared. So when I left I said
me: "bye Amy"
amy: "bye!"

Not my best but I sorta froze up.

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

Well you didn't get her number so you didn't "succeed."

But your thinking, and the way you approached her initially are dead on. Thats the exact sort of thing women respond to.

Next time, do the same but get her number at the end.

She introduced herself. Make some small talk, ask her what she was doing in there, maybe bust on her for being a nerd...whatever. Just talk to her for a couple of minutes and get her number.

I'm gonna work on my social skills. Hindsight 20/20 I could have played that much better than I did.

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

Serialized3 makes a good point. You opened well and she responded. Everyone on this board will tell you what they would have said in your situation, but that's after they've had the opportunity to think about it. They will never admit that it's a lot easier to "type" a ****y and funny, rather than say it on the spot. Typing gives them time to think about what they wanna say.

In all honesty, it's something you have to work on. I usually come up with dumb follow ups that deal with the conversation. It really doesn't matter as long as you keep them talking about themselves. The trick is to relate to what they're saying by telling something about yourself.

How many times have you told a story to a good friend and before you've even finished, they've already cut you off and started telling you a story similiar to yours? It's the same exact thing, but with a woman!

Great way to grab your balls and say something, but follow up next time! Good luck

Remember dude, not every conversation has to be perfect or the essence of excellent C&F. It's just not feasable.

This is the problem I run into, it makes me think, if she really wanted to talk to you, she should have contributed more. Yeah, if that's all you said, I didn't see much of a chance of getting her real number.

I'll tell you what I'd like to be able to do. I know its just a movie, but in Wedding Crashers, Vince Vaughn is great. Like the way he spoke to his secretary and just all the off-the-wall stuff that he comes up with. And again I realize its just a movie and he was told to say that, but I think in the real world it would be cool to be able to "let go" like that.

Just a thought
