In my field a CPA isn’t really necessary, so I didn’t pursue it. I think the value of an MBA really depends on the program structure, aspirations, Professors and the Tier can be beneficial sometimes. Modern programs tend to be more updated and include systems and technologies that didn’t exist decades ago and that are essential nowadays, you basically need them. I wouldn’t call an MBA useless, Its really not, at least not for me from what I know, learned and applied.

When it comes to career positions, high status starts from top managers and successful business owners.

For mid-level employees/small entrepreneurs of various categories only entry to high status is significant amount of money (for example inherited or given by parents etc.) - even below middle-status ppl can entry MBA courses these days if they are ready to spend necessary amount of money (however going heavily into "overqualified" theory is rarely a good decision).
