Modern programs tend to be more updated and include systems and technologies that didn’t exist decades ago and that are essential nowadays, you basically need them. When it comes to career positions, high status starts from top managers and successful business owners.

For mid-level employees/small entrepreneurs of various categories only entry to high status is significant amount of money (for example inherited or given by parents etc.) - even below middle-status ppl can entry MBA courses these days if they are ready to spend necessary amount of money (however going heavily into "overqualified" theory is rarely a good decision).
