"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Have a date planned and girl texts you saying

"Sorry my nana passed away this afternoon, I won't make tonight. Haven't been checking my phone, sorry to bail".

I say bullshyt. What do you guys think?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Ahh it's iffy, depends on her follow up I'd say,and if its true it might take a while for her to think about your date.

You'll know if she was lying next time you ask her out. If she flakes/rejects again with no counter, you'll know she's a low class liar and you can forget about her

For now just send your condolences and contact again next week, gotta give the benefit of the doubt

I believe her. Why? Because I TRY to give people the benefit of the doubt when theres a "death".

It takes a REAL piece of trash to use the death of a family member to get out of a date. So judge her by that...does she seem the type to do that? She could be but thats on you to decide. Just tell her "my condolenses...wish you and your family the best"...she will reach out to u if she is interested after

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

I'm on the same boat.

Yet like Espi said, the kind of excuse does not matter really.

We could have a thread like that stickied " Best excuses you recieved ".

I give them the benefit of the doubt because I'm a positive person and thats how I was raised. But the real world has taught me that most people are full of schitt. Don't let rose colored glasses cloud reality.

Take this with a grain of salt but when someone dies everybody usually calls everybody. Your phone is right beside you in times of trouble. And why did she feel the need to tell you she hadn't been checking her phone?

Analyzing and asking questions is the foundation for developing critical thinking skills!

Two points, as is TMK's usual way.

-As Yewki said you'll know if she's lying whether she follows up later on or not. I don't know many people who would say such a thing just to get out of a date, or even at all if it weren't true. You can give her the benefit and assume it's true.

-As for the 'phone checking' issue; guys, especially red pill guys need to get used to the idea of half truths. Half truths, also know as 'white lies', are classically used to protect the recipient from the gravity of the whole truth.
Women especially know that men get completely over sensitive about these things and therefore wrap whole truths up in a pretty half bow, as to protect poor little OP's feelings.
In this particular instance, if her family member has actually died, a date with the OP is now pretty low on her priority list, if not rock bottom. Her saying 'I've not checked my phone' = 'I've been checking my phone, but I have far more important sh!t going on than a sodding date with you right now'. She had the decency to let you know beforehand, which means she's likely telling the truth.

Put your big boy pants on, turn the sensitivity down to 9, and get on with life.

I have always been reluctant to not believe people when they say relatives have died. Did she counter with any offer? If she is willing to meet I can pretty much guarantee she isn't lying. If she isn't, your just gonna have to let it go and move on to the next one.

It's unlikely that she didn't check her phone, but it is understandable that you weren't her priority to contact. If it isn't a first date and someone you've been meeting for a while I will stand corrected.

Don't text her back ... wait to hear from her again ... if you REALLY like her and don't hear back wait several weeks and send her a greeting suggesting a get together.

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

Who cares, delete her number and move on, if she ever texts you again then consider meeting.

If she uses death as an excuse, she's trash. It happened to me 2 times, never heard from her again.

My advice, give her one last time in 1-2 weeks. No response = Delete her

I used to sell cars. We would always talk about common excuses people would give for having to leave once they got inside and started looking at numbers.

The managers would even have contests on the weekends to see which salesman would get the lamest sounding excuse.

Most common was "I have to go to a birthday party."

I saw a comedy once, guy dating a girl who pulled the "nana died" excuse, only the guy she pulled it on had heard it from her before about a year or so ago under different circumstances.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

Likely an excuse. In my experience when a women cancels for a real serious reason they usually do not go into detail. They will say... "Sorry, we've had a death in the family and I just can't make it tonight", and they leave the door open for something else later. The more detail you get... the more likely it's just an excuse.

We have ALL heard the flaky excuses from women... when this happens just back away and let her come to you and go after other women and put her out of your mind. It doesn't matter if the excuse is good or not, you act the same, you don't care and you go after other women.

I do what I want and will usually offer no explanations or reasons...
This is a brilliant perspective. As I evlove I find that this is happening more and more. What I honestly struggle with is the comments after that I'm a dyck or an azzhole. Not caring about these sentiments is my next step.

"Has anybody told you before that your a real azzhole". That's a real stinger.

I had a date last night, met from online. In person, she was a 6 (an 8 online) by observation of her sitting down and her face. So I cut the date short to about 25 minutes and left with her. As I walked with her for several blocks to my car/her transportation, I noticed she had a real nice azz. So I said, "Hey, you really have a nice azz."

She reponded, "Excuse me. A nice azz? What about my eyes, my face?" I responded, "Well, you do have a nice azz. Do you want to go back to my place and fvck?"

Then she started crying. So I said, "Hon, don't cry. What's your name?"

LOL. Ya, I'm going to hell.

Hahaha, Guru, you are the man!

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.
