I'd say it depends - if he is an employee it's probably a high end of "low-status" jobs, as:
The narrator says that he has a family, so at least he had ascended there.
- it requires some personal attributes other ppl tend to not have (e.g. I am totally disgusted by bugs, I would never been able to allow any ****roaches walk over me like this guy without a panick attack)
- it requires using some specialist equipment with appropriate chemical agents and not getting toxicated yourself during the process (so you need to know how to max out efficiency w/o giving yourself intoxication or - eventually - more serious disease)
- it probably pays much better than e.g. work in meat processing plant
If he is an solopreneur (owner of one-man company or just him and 1 employee) I think he may actually be considered a mid-tier as his earnings are probably much better than earnings of some office workers - and amount of $ you earn is more important than "esteem" of your workplace until esteem effects outweight the effect of $ (nothing like that happens for average office worker, no one will congratulate blue collar on being blue collar - or average white collar manager that actually may earn less than solopreneur specialising in eliminating bug infestation).
btw. irrespective of situation (whether working as employee or solopreneur) that guy does important job for our society - thanks to guys like him, our civilization and surrounding is properly maintained - chapeau bas Mr Infestation Eliminator.
HINT for guys with jobs like these: Learn how to film YT videos, launch YT channel, train some storytelling ability and don't be afraid of camera, get permits from some home owners (in return for promos for your services) to get the action filmed - I bet you can build some cool YT channel about your job that will get you more customers and perhaps provide some additional profit.
