"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

In my job as a police officer I see a lot of bad things, but nothing has ever worried me more on the job than this.. I guess it's because this is personal:

I work with a guy who I have been good friends with for 20 years. There is a new position open in our department and both he and I want it, and we are the only two people who want to apply for it. It's only open internally..

He and his wife both had a new baby and are hurting for cash, he could really use it. Our Chief isn't all that fond of him too much, but likes me.. Being "logical" based on lots of factors, I think I deserve it more and "want" it more based on what the job is. However, I think he "needs" it more based on the fact that he could really use the money for his family..

One final thing which is huge is that he is the one who got me into being a cop. He is the one that talked me into it and helped me get my "wings". That's the toughest factor in this, stepping on his toes after what he has done for me..

Not sure if I should jump ship and just let him have it, or "go for it" and hope we are still friends when it's all over.

This really sucks..

"You Can't Argue a Woman Into Liking You"

You made your case like a lawyer. Stable job. Good guy. Ready for something real. All true. All irrelevant.

She weighed your points, nodded along, felt nothing — then fell hard for some tattooed bartender with a motorcycle and a gambling problem.

Logic is where attraction goes to die. The "22 Rules" work a level deeper, on the subconscious switches that decide within minutes whether you register as a MAN or as part of the furniture.

Stop presenting evidence. Start flipping switches.

You have to ask yourself if he deserves the job or if you "dump it", what your superiors will think of you knowing that it's yours for the taking.

If your buddy wanted it bad enough he would earn it.

You should ask yourself, which one of us is more qualified and would do better in the job? After that, I'm sorry it's a dog eat dog world. Survival of the fittest still applies to man, even with our societal evolution. You'll through this if things don't turn out all purfume and roses. Do what you want to do, it's the human way.

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.

place to place.
arrogance, should be your best friend right now. alot of people in society would not even care about the other person or their situation. if the job was better and the pay was more better then i say take the green light. self sacrifice is the stupiest thing a person can do. look around you....people in society today are all about me,me,me and it rewards them well. i have never seen the stand-up goodguy fair well in life. if it makes you happy to give him the position then do it. but i see you are having trouble with the decsion because you want it too.

take it.

If you want this job and think you deserve it then take it.

It is not your responsibility to worry about the finance of your friend, he got himself into this and he will eventually get out.

You never know if an oppertuinty like this will come again. Your motto should be "may the best man win" and if you win then he should congradulate you. You may regret this in the future if you pass this job.

Your friend may have gotten you the job, but you can always thank him in other ways. Besides if you get this job, who knows, maybe you'll get promoted again and you can promote him when you become a superior. Since you're a cop, you'd also serve society and better perform your duty through this promotion, rather than just letting your friend have it.
