Have you ever met a greedy person? A person who really loved money? Not a worshiper of the dollar who is a slave to things outside his power, but someone who understands the importance of material goods.
Money is the root of much good in the world. With it we can buy healthcare for ourselves and our families. We can use it to take classes or purchase books or go on trips that will enrich our minds and our lives. Greedy people desire to learn the source of wealth, how it is produced and where it comes from and how to create it.
But women are seduced by appearances.
Women don’t love money; they love the appearance of wealth. Take the diamond engagement ring: diamonds are worthless. Yes, they are. Diamond prices are what they are because a corporation named DeBeers controls 60% of the international diamond market and artificially inflates the prices. When you buy a diamond its value goes down. Silver, gold and other precious metals and stones don’t lose their value like a diamond does.
Yet women love diamonds, because they love appearances. In that way women are the anti-stoics. The Stoics of the ancient world taught men to not be fooled by appearances and to understand the true value of the things in this world. They taught us to know what is in our power and what is not.
Women love bad boys because bad boys have the appearance of what women want. Scratch the surface of most bad boys and you’ll find a coward or an idiot or both. The truly dangerous men, the truly exciting men who secretly have hearts of gold aren’t out cruising singles bars or riding their bikes or doing other things to impress women. Bad boys are just the flip side of the coin of the nice guy, it is just another strategy used in an attempt to make women love them. And love them women do because women love appearances.
Love isn’t flowers and candy and diamond rings or vacations. Love is playing nurse to your woman when she is sick. Love is working extra hours to help pay for that class she needs to finish college. Love is holding your wife in your arms, fighting the grief in your heart, your hands sticky with her blood and her tears, because she just miscarried another child.
If you tell a woman you love her for her character, for her soul or her mind or whatever you want to call it, she will not understand you. If you tell her that you love her for her beauty, her face will light up and she will comprehend your meaning.
