Why "Whatever You Want" Keeps You Single

She says the movie looks dumb; you suddenly agree. She tests you with a little attitude; you apologize for nothing.

You think you're being easy to get along with. She reads something else entirely: a man with no edges. Nothing to hold on to. No friction, no tension, no reason to wonder what he really thinks.

The "22 Rules" taught me to push back — playfully, calmly, without needing her approval. Strange things happened after that.

I had an interesting exchange the other day with the chick I am seeing. My misadventures with her are well chronicled here. Contrary to how it may appear on the surface, I took it as her believing we are engaged in something more serious. What says you?

She told me about a conversation she recently had with a guy on Tinder. She lamented the guy saying if she put on 20 pounds she would look better. I disagree with the guy and so did she but that is besides the point.

Well, she went on to say she wasn't on Tinder to meet anyone and, in a supplicating manner, exclaimed, "I could get rid of the app if you want me to."

Is it just me, or does that sound like something a chick would say to her boyfriend? I mean, why else would she need my permission to use the app to soak up the attention she apparently needs? I said I didn't care if she used the app. Which is the truth. I really find none of those men as a threat to me and her, whatever the prospects of me and her are. Her ex, on the other hand, I could see her run back to at a moment's notice.

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

Reverse psychology. She asks you and Gage's your interest to see how much you like her. If you say yes, then she knows you like her a lot. If you defer and play aloof she still has to figure you out. Deflect and ask for a date again.

True -- that could be it as well. But I think she knows my interest level by now, we've known each other for 4+ months.
