Woman who lied about being gang raped won't get any jail time

I've been accused of sexual harassment many years ago whilst I was in Singapore.

She got caught in the lie and luckily for me, unknown to both of us, there were hidden cameras in the workplace.

Ultimately HR decided to sacked her even after I declined to press any charges.

Back then the Singapore government had this weird law on sexual harassment - a women does not need prove, only her word that it happened would be grounds for prosecution.

It’s the same in the US although it’s not official, that’s how it’s pretty much treated and carried out unless there’s clear evidence the man didn’t do a thing and even then, this could even be after a conviction and actual jail time.

I would’ve been terrified if something like that had happened to me in a place like Singapore. I grew up hearing crazy story of how strict and brutal that places laws are. No chopped hand for me. I like it very much
I was invited to work in Singapore and that incident made me aware of how precarious i was to be in that situation, reason enough to quit my job and leave Singapore behind.

What was weird, it wasn't a Singaporean woman who made it up, it was a Chinese national from Shanghai - that fact alone made people suspicious.

The company's vice president - HR personally apologise to me for all the ruckus it caused and told me she was furious that a fellow woman would stoop so low, hinting that women from China are great manipulators.
