"The Kiss of Death Mistake"

You replay the conversation at 2 a.m. She texted back fast yesterday. Today, nothing. Was that smile friendly or flirty? What did the shoulder touch mean?

Every hour you spend decoding her signals drains your confidence and hands her the controls. Women can sense that insecurity from across the room — and it repels them.

One of the "22 Rules" kills the obsession on the spot: assume she likes you, and act accordingly. Sounds too simple. Works anyway.

Her interest tends to rise to meet your expectations. Psychologists call it a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I snagged this one off another forum. The woman is discussing male dating book authors:

"Yea i hear you. The older ones have this rule in their head like if they see you more than once a week or call too often they are ring shopping or something which is truly ridiculous. I think it has been really refreshing to have a younger guy in my life because he just does what he feels like without wondering how it will be perceived on the relationship front. If he wants to see me a bunch in a week he asks for it or flirts for it. Practically speaking, you need time together to figure out what you have and someone who holds back that process because of some fear that is detached from you is annoying.
Then there are all of these new dating books. Isnt there one called the System or something? This guy might as well be an evil relationship evangelist. I read some of his stuff on AskMen.com and men are literally worshipping hima nd following his rule s for keeping a girls interest which basically boils down to not calling too much and remaining fairly unavailable - manipulating what this guy has figured our about how women react to things emotionally. Nice. We women needed this guy like a hole in our pretty heads! It really bothered me reading it and I know he is very popular...I know that there have been women players as well as men players and over time this has made us resort to manipulative measures our of fear but I wish we could somehow cal a f***ing truce so that we could all just breathe and be normal and see how that works..."

"You Can't Argue a Woman Into Liking You"

You made your case like a lawyer. Stable job. Good guy. Ready for something real. All true. All irrelevant.

She weighed your points, nodded along, felt nothing — then fell hard for some tattooed bartender with a motorcycle and a gambling problem.

Logic is where attraction goes to die. The "22 Rules" work a level deeper, on the subconscious switches that decide within minutes whether you register as a MAN or as part of the furniture.

Stop presenting evidence. Start flipping switches.

This stuff sounds like what women are cackling about over on iVillage. The funny thing is that it sounds a lot like what a lot of guys do in this forum, make assumptions based on short little articles that don't expound upon the full philosophies of dating. Funny that they didn't mention their dating bible "The Rules."

It does make me wonder though about those younger guys she alludes to. Are those guys the stereotypical AFCs which cater to all the old dating rules of buying flowers and taking them to expensive restaurants, yadda yadda yadda... It makes me think that these women just want guys that will cater to their delusions of courtship.

I do have this vision of a more communal lifestyle. Like a collection of villas with shared cooks, dishwasher, gym, and a huge garden space with lots of tropical plants. I guess in cold areas instad of covering it, you would need to use temperate plants and maybe add a water garden or something peaceful.

What would be sweet in cold places is to have all this covered like a mall with stores and such in the covered area that all the residents would have easy access to. If it got really big, maybe have rental golf carts to go from different stores/villas to home.

What do you guys think? Anyone live in something similar to this now?

Dating should just be able mingling. Long drives, expensive dinners, and lots of problems just aren't really very appealing. Fortunately, I have the benefit of riding a train to and from my ladies place.

It's a beautiful thing, I've read this book about 10 times over.

We women needed this guy like a hole in our pretty heads! It really bothered me reading it

Translation="crap, he has us figured out, now i have no ammo!"

I wish we could somehow cal a f***ing truce so that we could all just breathe and be normal and see how that works..."

I can see her waving the white flag from here.

Actually, reading between the lines I agree with her 100%. I understood her like this:

"Older men (or AFCs) are so paranoid that we are going to lose interest if they call or talk to us to much that they have to be in a relationship, which is utter bull****, not all women are looking to be commited. I like having a young spontaneous guy that doesn't overanalyze **** and does what he wants, when he wants, it keeps it exciting and new. If he wants to see me alot htat weak then he will communicate that confidently (i.e. playfully, flirting etc). You need to get to know a person in order to determine if this is someone you would like to be with, and someone who is playing be all these rules out of fear and paranoia (not calling, trying to remain unavailable) just complicates the process and makes **** alot more complex and confusing than it needs to be.

Then there are these new dating books, there's one called the system right? This guy might as well be the definition of dirtbag. I read some of his stuff and these AFCs are literally sucking his **** and following his rules because they are too pansy to act on their own nature, which basically boils down to a set of rules that just aren't natural or fun to follow, plus its just being an a$$hole to manipulate people's emotions because you aren't man enough to honestly and naturally attract a woman. It really pissed me off reading this, and of course there are always going to be women who mess around with guys and guys who mess around with women, and because of this we have techniques, etc to hide our fear, but it's really just ridiculous now and I wish that people would stop being so fake and start being real".

That's what I got and I agree.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.
