Because it is 100% true: Any job that does NOT require some sort of college degree, academy training (police, fireman) or a certification in a trade (plumbing, carpentry, electrician, welding) is going to have ****ty pay, ****ty hours, be hazardous or a combination of all three.

Take for example my current job at the front desk of a 3.5-4 star hotel (I have a degree, but it is a long story): which only requires a high school education. Most hotels do not require college degrees nor do restaurants.

Sure it a nice place inside, but the pay stinks, you are on your feet 7.5 hours a day, you deal with the public (getting yelled at) and their money, you work the worst hours and the benefits stink.

This above scenario can be said for most other jobs that don't require a degree, academy training, certification etc. like waiters, waitresses, retail clerks, dishwashers, tree cutters, construction workers, airline agents, etc.

Take it from me, when people say how important a college education is, it is 100% true!!!

1 out of 3 of the Forbes 400 wealthiest Americans do not have a college degree. The wealthiest man in America dropped out. Education is so that the elites can have mid-level management.

You think Bill Gates has a trade? He bought the operating system that Windows is based on for almost nothing. Not like he is a computer genius.

Interesting thread, I think being successful in life is having drive.

Any job that does NOT require some sort of college degree, academy training (police, fireman) or a certification in a trade (plumbing, carpentry, electrician, welding) is going to have ****ty pay, ****ty hours, be hazardous or a combination of all three.
Jobs that have these credentials are usually associated with people who are either using them as stepping stones or a quick source of income. Having a shitty job and keeping it for life makes you a loser with no drive or very very unlucky.

Having an education is a good thing to encourage to people but education just gives you guidance. At the end of the day it is an individuals ability to think and place themselves out of there comfort zone to make mistakes and learn from them. So I guess what I'm saying is education gets you started in the thinking process but TRUE SUCCESS comes from making logical choices, failing/succeeding and finding YOUR OWN PATH.

I'm also a firm believer in doing things that make you happy NOT doing something that gets you paid (money being the main incentive).

There are a lot of people who are successful without college education. But, those guys were smart too. Unless they had an excuse (bad teachers, family, ect), did well in highschool. They knew and learned from smart people, and they consistently improved themselves.

If people have the option to go to college, I would say take it, it will really accelerate your potential. If you can't, its not the end of the world. But it is harder and it does require a little more luck. Especially having contacts with the right people.

Oh, and all of this doesn't apply for science, engineering, law, and medical. So yeah. . . .

Thats because theyre intelligent enough to consider theyre future and have the motivation to make something of theirselves.

There's a difference between smart people who dont go to college and people who are lazy and just wanna party who end up being a manager at mcdonalds when theyre 45.
