Why post suggestions...

There was a point in time when I posted the majority of my posts here in the suggestions forum.

But....

I wasn't suggesting anything, I would shoot down any suggestion people had and remind them not to take this website so damn seriously. I really don't get it. What is the problem with this place? There is nothing wrong with it, your looking for too much, its just a forum for guys to talk to each other about how to pick up girls. Thats all it is and thats all it should be!

You really should have better things to do than to worry about how some website is running. And 99.9999% of the suggestions are rediculous. Who cares about any of this stuff?

The only thing that really should be here is questions about posts being moved or deleted by mods, or public reports of someone being disrespectful.

We have enough forums already.
We don't need special titles, and we can easily ignore the one we already have.
Yada, yada yada...

The site is perfect the way it is.

That's a valid use of the suggestions and feedback forum, both those who were posting and you responding to the suggestions.

I agree with you, but is it not a good thing that the owner of the site is willing to listen to us? Should he not encourage members to speak freely about what we feel should and should not go on here? I am glad he does.

I agree with you about most of the suggestions being ridiculous, but nobody set either you or me up as the grand-poobah of what "should be" in here or any other forum for that matter.

The reason I post in here now is I suspect not unlike the reason you did at one time more than you do now. I have at this point already gotten probably 99% of the benefit I will ever get from this forum. My thoughts on the topics are more or less fully formed. I have already articulated pretty much everything I have to say on the topics in the past, so I have limitted motivation to discuss what I have already articulated over and over again. I do, however, like to check up on the place and post on-topic stuff SOMETIMES. But my motivation to post in suggestions and feedback stems from my desire for this forum to be as enriching for others as it was for me at one time. My comments here articulate what I believe will perserve those qualities.

No, it's not the same thing.

In here when people post about what they think should be happening, it's in the context of making a suggestion, which is the intended purpose of this forum. When you are making statements about what suggestions are or are not appropriate in the suggestions and feedback forum, that's entirely different.
