Those people aren't labeled as that because they've accomplished extraordinary things, that most normal people wouldn't have even dared to accomplish or dreamed of accomplishing. Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates are clearly socially awkward. Jobs, has a history of using and abusing people for their talents and many people mentioned that they didn't like him socially as a person but applauded his achievements.
The people you associate as freaks enjoy and immerse themselves in those hobbies and tasks. The only way to become good at anything is to rinse and repeat/practice. Those gamers that you call freaks make 6 figures and have developed a world wide pro gaming community that has corporate sponsors, tv channels, and web channels dedicated to streaming their matches. Associating yourself with like minded people is good, but i prefer to associate myself with these so called different people that immerse themselves in a goal and don't let morons like you deter them from it even if they're called names. I prefer to learn from better people while you prefer to learn from people of your caliber which means you don't have much to learn at all. Many writers are socially awkward people but you've probably read many of their books, assuming you are literate and read.
But like everything else there are the great, the bad, and the normal. Your biased opinion just shows how narrow minded you are in judging people.
