Hey guys,
After spending a lot of time researching human behavior both in the field and in seminars, I have learned a lot about naturally projecting your own inner confidence. A lot of dating guru's rip on the advice of "Just be Yourself". I agree that "Be a Man" is better advice than JBY, but with experience, a have gotten a different perspective on things. In fact, I am at the point in my life where "being myself" is actually good advice because the "self" I am being is an Alpha male.
I've watched a lot of guys mature and progress into alpha-ness, and I've noticed that there are several key differences to their approaches that determine their levels of success. Guys who read about how alpha males behave, watch James Bond marathons, and become seminar junkies, are picking up correct behavior patterns. However, when they go to apply the behavior, they often fail. Women sense that these guys are not comfortable with what they're doing. These guys aren't being genuine. These guys aren't "being themselves".
It would appear that the best course of action is to apply a different approach. Instead of mocking behavior patterns and tricks that alpha males use, it is better to work at changing your "self". This way, when you be yourself, you are both attractive and genuine.
The question becomes, "How do I do it? How do I change myself?" Most guys don't realize a few key points about themselves. First, they don't truly know who they are to begin with. They act like insecure, ass-kissing, kniving, manipulative AFC's...AND they think they are being themselves! Being yourself means calling shots as you see them automatically. It means getting in touch with your natural responses to things. Think of a time when everything seems to work out. When you're with your buddies kicking it back and having a few beers. Think of a time when you have no weight on your shoulders and you just natrually have fun. This is your true self and this is the part you need to work on.
When a comedian learns a new joke, it takes about 11 times before he can get an audience cracking up. Why is this? it's because the first few times it isnt integrated into his self image. It doesnt sound natural. But with enough practice, he can both tell the joke and sound genuine because the joke has worked it's way into his self image.
In a similar way, evolution into alpha-ness involves working to slowly mold your self image instead of pretending to be someone you're not. If you can do this, "Just Be Yourself" will end up being the best advice you can get.
Over and out,
