Master Don Juan
Do you know what a life of ignorance, a life of failing does to a man? It makes him angry. When everyone around you seems to "get it", when they're getting the ***** and you're not- that is enough to push a guy to breaking point.
So, with the interjection of a certain idea and a certain website, this angry guy (me) was shown how to gett girls, how to succeed, how to be happy.
What did I do? I got angrier.
What I hope to put down, concisely, is what I've felt and what I've done wrong, what I want to do to sort it out, and the advice I have. I'm not going to divulge into fables and symbolic stories save two examples, because no one wants an essay.
My failing
Upon seeing the information here, I saw the game as just that, a game. I guess I refused to play. My anger at how everything worked was moved "from the player to the game"- I wasn't jealous of the successful anymore, I was angry at the game. I despised the whole nature of it, from the chastity of marriage to the knowingly provocative nature or a girl's skirt. This anger took a while to shape, and while it was I had game. At one point, I was going out with the best looking girl in the whole school I attended.
So what happened? I get angrier. I didn't want to be friendly to her, in my convoluted logic I felt that if I wasn't an ass to her, if I didn't just use her when i felt like it, I'd be selling out. If she wanted to play the game, the game we all play, then she deserved to get played, the *****.
That's just ****ing pathetic. What the hell is this "game"? All I ended up doing was becoming an arrogant, lazy, angry prick whom no amount of self improvement in other areas could save. What did I do wrong? I got confused, I tried to impose logic on other people (and people are emotional beings), I didn't give up being angry.
How I will sort it out
So that's the first example out the way. Now onto my second. Dale Carnigie has been a bit of a kick in the head to me, and I expected his book "How to Make Friends and influence People" to be a mere reinforcement of what i already knew. I could not have been further from the truth.
In short, he cites very early on the supreme strength and power of one Abraham Lincon. WIthing a few minutes reading, I came to understand that Lincon commanded respect and achieved success because he was good.
The advice
A good guy? Surely this is what we should run from, for when we are "nice guys" we are shunned, we do not succeed!
A nice guy is not a nice guy though. A nice guy, an AFC, is a rat, a dirty selfish little rat. An AFC doesn't get any sex because he is desparate, because he is an unattractive individual, and because he doesn't make people feel good. "But as an AFC I lavished praise on people, but to no avail!", I cry. "Yet, you flattered people". This is the insincere complimenting of another to GET SOMETHING.
Well, if you are just saying something to get somewhere it is no wonder the other person simply saw that they were being used and felt offended and repulsed. Couple this with no looks or self worth and you ahve a very unattractive individual.
What do i want to do? Stop feeling angry. I want to be helpful and good to other people, because I know if I don't I won't be damned the spiritual hell of religious peoples and other dogmatists, but to a very tangeble hell of living a life with no joy.
What am I saying? I am saying that criticising people never helps, that people need to feel wanted and important. People want to feel liked and noticed. People want to feel successful. You all know this or you wouldn't be here! So I will stop being angry, trying to be clever and logical, and start off just being good to people. And you should do this too! If you feel you cannot make an approach, talk to someone you don't know, start by just trying to brighten up their day. To cite Carnegie, if you have an excelent meal at a restaurant, tell the waiter to tell the cook how good it was. Everyday make sure to make someone else feel good about themselves, because if we don't, who will?
