Why girls love Twilight

I went to go see the new Twilight movie with my girlfriend on Thursday night. Not because i'm puzzy whipped or anything but I wanted to see why soooo many women love Twilight. As I got to the movie theatre at 11:30 on the opening night, I realized that there was a magnitude of vagina there. The women out numbered the guys 10-1 omg.

So the movie plot goes something like this (Bella)= your average girl next door. She falls deeply in love with a vampire (Edward) which loves her just as much, if not more. But Bella also loves someone else, a werewolf (Jacob). Edward and Jacob fight to win over Bella. Bella eventually picks Edward. They get married, go on a honeymoon, have sex, then she give's birth to a half human/ half vampire baby.

Of course this movie had to be written by a women, no real man could of written this. Bella which is like a 4 had two guys fight over her to win her attention. These men are truely Beta. If Edward and Jacob were true alpha males they would of not acted like this, it kind of sickens me. In real life bella would dump both of these chumps for acting like such douches lol. Also the wedding and the honeymoon was what every women probably dreams of, and wishes there wedding could be. Do women truely like these Beta type of men that drool all over them, try to win her attention, and does everything in there power for her to like him? Women love this movie so much because they wish they could be just like Bella, and be a princess. So what do you guys think I have to watch a Van Damn movie now to boost my testosterone.

I watched the news today and the girls were interviewed as to why they are crazy about the movie. Most of them said because of the guy eye candy and the devotion the guys showed. Not a lot of their answer had anything to do with the plot. Which sort of makes sense because when I was younger I'd watch a movie for the action and never the story line. Now as an adult I find it quite insulting when movies focus on the action than an equally sound story line. Now I'd prefer a good story over meaningless action. I'm not saying the posters above me are wrong in their opinions. I think the twilight craze also has to do with being a fad, every girl around me is going crazy about it. I don't wanna be left out. I think my response is mostly true because this is not the first movie that guys have fought over a girl, yet you didn't have women going crazy over those other movies.

I have only skim-read but I think a key point hasn't been mentioned, what people have described are apparent in many many films since cinema began but what is popular at the moment is fantasy, vampires, werewolves and the like.... not the relationship dynamics between characters - that is always popular, especially with women.

I think the fantasy stuff is popular because of a couple of things, on a general bigger picture level (this is a guess I've not looked into it) fantasy film is even more 'escapist' than film about day-to-day life...and I would be inclined to say that when times are hard (ie economic depression) this is favourable whereas when you look at when hard hitting gritty films were popular (ie trainspotting etc) these were times of economic boom. (my knowledge is limited but in general.) ..and this not just in film but in the arts etc too.

On a more specific level (and this is what I'm sure about), fantasy, particularly the violent nature of vampires and werewolves, offers a channel to explore the darker side of arousal and eroticism, it taps in to our more carnal and socially-unacceptable desires and this the more subtle but important lure of fantasy film, particularly the very popular vampires and werewolves.

Do women truely like these Beta type of men

As usual, guys here are quick to point the finger at other men and call them beta, or AFC.

I think you're mistaken in calling these guys beta. You might say they ACT beta, but they're not really. In real life they'd probably be called naturals. You're forgetting first of all that these guys are extremely good looking, so they would have girls drooling over them for that. Someone here told me that the Jacob wolf boy who is always running around without his shirt on is the new sex symbol for the young twenty-something girls. In other words, he's going to get laid before any of the would be pickup artists here.

Edward the vampire is a dark mysterious guy who comes from a fabulously wealthy, powerful, immortal family. His status is off the chart. Put either the vampire or the wolf boy in a bar fight or up against the most alpha UFC fighter and he will destroy him. These guys are super-alphas even if they may ACT beta in some ways.

Bella is a fairly plain girl with a bland personality so girls can fantasize themselves in her position. As you note, she's nothing special, so that makes the fantasy all the more accessible. Girls can then imagine that they too can command a powerful sex symbol werewolf that any other girl would die for and stick him in the friendzone.

You might not get away with acting like that, but these guys can.

Is it really wrong for women to enjoy this movie/book series? It's two ridiculously good looking men who fight over her. Sounds like the fantasy of most average looking women to me!

In my opinion, twilight movies for women = porn for men. While you have the two good looking men chasing the average chick, in porn you can have 2 incredibly hot chicks sucking and fvcking the one guy. Women are just more sexually fascinated with dominance and submission.

I have been around SS a very long time, the beauty of this place is that the answers are here, the problem is that a lot of the answers are hidden through a lot of bull**** weak and ignorant people write and scream about.

One thing I have learned from here is that most of the answers are quite simple. In this case, I have learned that the appeal of Twilight is about women putting themselves in the protagonist position and having two desirable males chase after her. Which in effect it is porn for women.

Please do not over complicate this, if you do, you will become trap in a maze you will not get out of without help.

Of course all the answers are there, but the question is if you can find them. That is the beauty of this place, the same stuff is repeated over and over again, but people try to interpret it in 1000 ways. Reminds me of classical music and poetry.
