Just want to understand the psychology of why most woman at least initially want things fun, casual and not serious? Especially when someone has said in the past they want a long term relationship, why do they initially like it more casual?

They’re like cats. They’re interested but they don’t want you to be overbearing at first. They get much more outspoken attention than men get, so they play back a little at first. They’re interested in seeing if you are fun and have a full life of your own that is exciting and impresses them. They will get closer to you over time.

It’s because time is against them. Their reproductive years are finite, so they have to make sure the man they choose is congruent; someone who can be trusted with her most fertile years and represents the best option among potential suitors for her future offspring.

In simple terms, women don’t want to waste time on a loser. That’s why they subconsciously test for traits like stability, ambition, and emotional control before investing deeper or committing; it’s a natural form of survival filtering.

So since they go slow, they expect a guy to go slow.
