Women in South America, upper classes of Mexico, most of Asia, Central Europe and Russia expect to be thin and they are. I have heard, but do not have proof, that over the past 35 years dress sizes in the USA have not only increased on average, but that what was a size 6 in 1978 is now a size -0-, what was a size 20 is now a size 14, and 14 is the average dress size.
Funny thing is, the more they spread awareness about healthy choices and obesity, the fatter people get. You're my age. When I was growing up I barely remember hearing about obesity. When you heard about women and weight it was usually about eating disorders, anorexia and bulimia.

The problem with the US is the diet. People eat the wrong foods and have gotten used to huge portions. In Asia and Europe for the most part they don't even have to worry about getting fat because their diet is sensible. They don't even have to think about it.

Agreed, and its because everybody focuses on the wrong thing. Everyone worries about carbs and fat, when in reality it all comes down to QUANTITY not quality. I do disagree about portion sizes though. I mean sure its an issue, but the single biggest factor in gaining weight is SNACKING.

Picking at things here and there. Grabbing that single donut (then an hour later having some chips, then a soda, then some candy later on, then more "oh one bite won't hurt", etc etc. If these people just allowed themselves one single big plate of real good food, they'd be much better off.

I've been losing weight steadily for a while now, and on good days you should see the size of my dinner plate. Its huge. That's because I space out my daily calories to allow it, and it works for me. I need that one big meal a day.

Precisely.

Go look at made for TV movies or films that cast no-name young actors, 16-25 in 1978-1982. Notice how thin, skinny and svelte EVERYONE was. Now only movie stars who can afford $200,000 a year grooming and exercise routines, or some (but tragically not ALL) Jr High and HS girls are thin like this. When I saw my nieces friends and noticed that HALF, at ages 13-17, were obese, I knew that something was wrong.

You cannot even find many young thin, hot American girls now. Half are fat by 20, the rest are fat by 25, the few in shape are married off at 23 and never seen nor heard from again.

I've been going up and down in my weight ever since I was 36. I've kept a fairly consistent exercise regimen for the past 30 years, so any difference really comes down to my diet (and my age).

I've never had a problem with snacking really, it's just that I like big dinners. During several of my weight gaining phases, I've eaten two meals a day, no snacking. I'd eat a decent sized brunch, and a big supper. And that would be enough for me to gain weight. Because I'd go back for seconds, whatever. Or go to a restaurant and eat restaurant portions. When I was your age though, I could get away with this. (And yes, I know you should eat 5-6 small meals a day).

Yeah, it's definitely different now. It makes you wonder if there's something to these conspiracy theory ideas that they're putting something in the water.

It does seem like most are fat by 25. I've seen quite a few very young pretty girls get married around the 23 year mark, have a kid, and bang after that they're fat. It's kind of sad to see, because some of these girls were absolutely gorgeous before.

Unfortunately, even among our age group and the girls who have managed to keep themselves slim, a good deal of those don't even look that attractive. It's just the effect of aging, I guess :/

This is what I think when I think curvy.

http://www.gunaxin.com/wp-content/gallery/rachel_weisz/rachel9.jpg

I'm in the group that's not at all attracted to boney model types. I also agree that it isn't straight men that promote them, but other women and gay guys involved in the industry.

Men like curves in the right places (no flabby arms, guts, et al.)

But yeah...women with the look Leanne has now...are no better to me than a fat girl...wouldn't hit either type of women. I guess you could say the women I like are "regular" in body. I like t n a.

That's what's great about strip clubs. They "get" it and have the women with the wide hips, big boobs, flat stomachs and pretty faces.

I agree. Rachel Weisz is definitely something that I would tap!

And good strip joints have such attractive women. Of course, there always seem to be a bunch of fatties at strip joints as well - I wonder if the manager intentionally adds fat women to the lineup, since some men like fatties, or if he just adds them because he can only find a few genuinely attractive women for a shift.

Wait what? I've never seen a fat chic in a strip club (then again, I don't go alot). The last one I went to a few weeks ago had a mostly average to skinny girls. None had fat, rolls, or anything jiggling that shouldn't have been. Why pay to see what you can get on the street/club?

That's not curvy, that's just fat.
I don't understand why they call fat women curvy anyway.
If anything, it seems like all those fat rolls obscure the real curves.
I think I understand the point Rollo might be trying to make.

FAT is the new curvy unfortunately. There's a whole movement to make fat women feel better about themselves by calling themselves "curvy" rather than fat.

I get it, I just don't agree with it. I don't like the feminists or porn industry or whoever taking a great word like curvy to describe attractive women and using it to mean fat. Fat women aren't even curvy, like I said. They're lumpy. The fat rolls cover up the curves.

I'm taking it back!
