"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.

I've noticed with some friends of mine that the girl will get particularly moody and upset when the guy tells her he's done with her (cutting her out of his life) after she's already told him she doesn't want to continue with things.

Basically the girl wants to stay friends with the guy, and finds it so unbelievable that the guy wants nothing to do with her.

Can anybody shed some light? Something I've been pondering lately.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

It's an ego thing.
Whether you like someone or not, if they like you, it feels good. An ego boost.

As well as wanting the upper-hand; doing the decision-making; being the ones to defriend them (when their services are no longer required, as they see fit); keeping them as a back-up or SO without benefits (or using them for other means)... Basically, having their way, and calling all the shots - knowing that the other party is still interested (and wanting to keep it that way)... Then they cry foul, use guilt trips, make the other party seem like the jerks, etc - when they're the selfish / unfair ones with ulterior motives.

Basically all it is. They don't take the other person's feelings into consideration - because they don't CARE. But when they can't get away with being selfish - even in leiu of this - they have a ****fit.

It's not because they care so much about them, and don't want to lose their friendship. The friendship will end up being fake and one-sided, anyway. They're just spoiled and selfish... and probably controlling. Everyone likes attention; to be admired and wanted. Even though they don't want to continue dating - they don't want the other party to lose interest, OR to move onto someone else before they're well-established / in a committed relationship with someone else first. Just because they break up - doesn't mean they want the other person to hook up with others (even if they do). Plus keeping them around incase things fall through with others, or they change their minds. Always wanting options available, and what not.
