I won't write how many virgins I have slept with, because it would sound like I am bragging. I just have to say, what's the point? Is there some magic that is transferred to a guy from a girl the first time she has sex with someone?
The reason virginity was important in the past is that evolution has given us the instinct to want to raise our own children. Those who had that instinct would give their own children and no one else's a better start, thereby making sure those who shared their behavior genes would survive, etc. That a girl is a virgin when you marry is the ultimate assurance that any children she has will be yours, and so cultural mores evolved to fit the instinct.
However, knowing this still doesn't make virginity something holy or magical. Again: the whole quest for virginity was about raising children that are yours. I think you can make certain of that anyway.
I give props to anyone who figures this out. To those who don't, not so much.
