This is something that baffles me. I cannot relate to it at all and didn't even know that it was a thing. I always had this inherent inward belief that although frowned upon by many women, it's still possible that a man could have multiple women. But it NEVER occurred to me that a woman could have multiple men while her 'main' guy was okay with it. Yet apparently more males have a cuck fetish than females do. It's tearing my brain up to think about. What's the mechanism behind this? Is it solely social conditioning or is there a biological/evolutionary mechanism behind it?

One theory for this sort of thing has to do with giving up control (and how that creates an erotic outlet for powerful men who are required by their position and status to be "In Charge" all the time.). Apparently having to be "In Charge" all the time gets old.

Another theory has to do with objectification. That in a marriage or deeply intimate relationship it becomes harder to see the woman as a sex object. Apparently seeing her with someone else helps re-ignite a man's ability to see his woman's raw sexuality again.

A third theory talks about mating strategies. It has to do with seeing a woman with another man & then wanting to bust a nut inside her to usurp the other guy's sperm, so it's based in evolutionary psychology.

Human sexuality is complex. This type fantasy is largely consumed in the marketplace by men as OP noted so it is sort of interesting as to why that is.
