Story gets weirder. Read this article: http://www.nola.com/opinions/index.ssf/2017/06/french_quarter_attack.html
Guys were in NOLA as part of some unified new age order of Christianity (ie not Christianity at all) to help promote all the typical liberal causes. The guy who suffered the brain damage was gay. May have made them appear to be easy targets.
That brings me to the article itself. The writer cannot resist the urge to blame conservative values:
The denomination came to New Orleans, which could use an infusion of justice in all those named areas, only to have two of its staffers hurt........We are a city with high rates of poverty, unemployment, discrimination and -- not surprisingly, given all that -- crime. We need the help of everybody who is passionate about standing up for justice.
Talk about a reach, but at least they wrote the article semi-blaming the ACTUAL CRIMINALS. When the muslim guy shot up the gay bar in Orlando, the LGBT community blamed it on lack of tolerance.
New Orleans could use justice all right, but it isn't social justice, they have enough of that already. The mayor is more concerned about taking statues down, while he routinely cuts big percentages of the police force. They can't even protect their own tourist areas.
