it's all fvkin the media's fault. They portray the image they want to be seen...which are all the negative stereotypes of asians.
Cause of this, it creates an idea in everyone's head who's watched jacky chan or jet li or william hung and they go "ahh so the majority of asians know kung fu with bad english or are short ugly fvcks like hung"
Respect is all crap talk. We still dont get true respect. If we did, then, good looking asian guys that spoke proper english would star in NON-martial arts movies, with lead roles.
Um, the media is actually all that powerful, you know what they do, they pander to what people want to believe. You sound like you have a chip on your shoulder. Well, guess what, negative stereotypes are in general all that gets portrayed e.g. all Americans are dumb redneck racist fu(ks who come from Texas or beautiful blond bum boys from California. That all the English are whinging, wet, soppy, miserable tea drinking, cricket playing stuck up people. That all Germans are neo fascists, that all police are thugs. that all french are good cooks and are wimps (eg why did the french plant trees by the arc de triumph, the google joke with french military victories.)
The point is that if you succumb to these stereotypes then you are racist, or simply ignorant, although often the two mix very well together. My friends were all obssessed with jacky chan, that didnt mean they thought all asians could beat their arse.
Are there any good looking asian guys, well i wouldnt know, i dont think guys are good looking

. What about good looking black people starring in movies apart from comedies, i mean look at like Will Smith, he is comic actor. The trouble is that Hollywood has to pander to a huge market and therefore they show them what they want and pander to stereotypes.
Respect is not all crap talk, i respect everyone (regardless of their appearance) until the individual gives me a reason not to respect them. Why dont you have the same attitude, the majority of people are not racist, they just have not experienced the world. Maybe the reason for this racism is America's insularity, i mean one in five people OWNING a passport, thats ****1n ridiculous, you should try and see the world.
Plus jakethasnake, i have no idea what you are on about, with native WHITE americans. There are no real natives to america, there has been wave after wave of immigration and slowly they will get assimilated. you can see the same thing has happened in Britain with Jews in the 14th and 20th centuries, with the Irish in the 16th - 19th century. More recently with Indians and Bangledeshis, Pakistanis, now Arabs and Eastern Europeans ae beginning to be assimiliated.

I really think it's pathetic how you downplay the reality some of us bravely face every day that we get up, despite it's viciousness and unpleasantness. That is some shyt that you don't have to deal with as a member of the majority.
Telling me that I have a chip on my shoulder is like telling a young black male who consistently gets pulled over by cops for no reason to "chill out". Take that crap and shove it up your ass, bro. Give me a break.
I honestly don't think I'm being unreasonable - me and most other Asians just want respect - REAL respect - not just politically correct lip-service - but many people aren't willing to give it to us.
Jake, everyone deals with discrimination every day in their life, being a member of the majority you will also face discrimination, this thing known as positive discrimination (in fact even meritocracy is a form of discrimination) works against the majority. It is vicous and it is unpleasant, but so is life, you have to deal with it and work against it, it does not help if you reinforce stereotypes by saying that it is only minorities who face racism, look a Rwanda and what happened to the Tutsis. Hell, as people, will always be different, they will always face discrimination, i will face it trying to get into university becasue I choose to save the state money and go to a private school instead of stealing a place at a good grammer from some smart but poor kid. Do you know how that benefits me, the governmet has told universities to work on what type of school kids come from. I have too deal with it, so do you.
I agree with what you are saying but you in return shouldnt buy into stereotypes and have this chip about how we are all racist. Both sides here are guilty of generalisations and stereotyping.
No you are not being unreasonable and you have my respect, but you also have to show respect and not act like we are all guilty.
