I don't know about American beers but the most popular European ones are pretty bad, Heineken and Grolsch being the biggest example. It doesn't even taste like beer, unless you like something that tastes like carbonated water with a fake beer flavor added to it.

There's also good ones too. I really like Polish beers. I hear they're getting more popular in the states.
