"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

I have this little dilemma at the moment.

There is this girl who is just a few weeks short of being 18. I've known her for about 4 years and all this time I thought shes a cool chick. She's mentioned all this time she likes me big time and I kinda like her too.

The problem is that she decided to repeat high school to get her grades up for uni and I am studying to be a high school teacher (3rd/4th year) and worried if word gets out then I am not allowed to ever teach (I haven't done anything physical with this girl AT ALL). The legal age of consent is 16 and she is nearly 18. I am 22.

I was just hangin out with her tonite and she mentioned she wanted to kiss me but she didn't want me to get in trouble and eventually ruin our friendship. I wanted to do something but wasn't sure if it would be against policy on becoming a teacher, and Ive worked hard for this degree.

I was wondering if there a teacher here on sosuave who knows this area. ( High School Teacher in Queensland, Australia). Any help or guidance would be great.

"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

Do you work at the school she is studying at?

Are you on the schools payroll?

Nope. I used to work there but she wasnt studying there. I only went there for a week for placement (like work experience/assignemnt).

I mean shes also a barmaid at the local nightclub. And shes nearly 18. If she was just any other girl who wanted me then she would have just went on to kiss me regardless whether I would ge kicked out of uni if word gets out. But she was very considerate and held back.

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.
