Agree and amplify works well, but why?

So is agree and amplify so effective because it's a form of reverse psychology, or is it because when you mirror some one its confusing them and makes them feel uncertain of your intentions, and uncertainty can cause emotional attachment.

I see sh!t tests as women just checking to see if you're really what you portray yourself to be. If she can get under your skin easily, you're not the man she is looking for. Agreeing and amplifying works well because you've just disarmed what she's said. She can't then go back on her word and make you out to not be as bad, she has no idea what to do. It's the same with ignoring what she says, if you just look at her, smile and talk about something else, she can't really bring it up without socially violating.
