It provides nothing from a dietary standpoint. People end up loading it up with salad dressing which isn't good for you.

Fairly simple, the darker green a lettuce is, the healthier it is for you. This is why some people prefer spinach leaves for a salad.

That is somewhat of a myth. Iceberg is less nutritious than a superfood green like kale or spinach, but it is still nutritious. If you've ever had it from a home garden, it actually has flavor, too. Produce isn't supposed to taste like the bland nothingness that it does. But unfortunately that is what is typically available to most people.

I always use Spinach when at the salad bar and no dressing, just blue cheese chunks sprinkled on.
