It's like nearly every "Steve" I've met has this same darn nickname. "Steve O"

When I ask them, they tell me it sounds cool but have no idea about the origin of it. Why in the world do they all call themselves "Steve O"?? It's just annoying, because it makes absolutely no sense. I feel like smacking the next "Steve O" I meet in the face. Anyone know what's up with it?

Just wondering.
