Whats with all the Ayn Rand/Atlas Shrugged Names?

Seems like alot of users here like Ayn Rand. Can anyone draw conclusions as to why Randroids are drawn to sites like these?

Ayn Rand was all about taking responsibility for your life and her books were all about living to your highest ideal, and in her mind what the ideal free/captain of his own ship man was like.

I have several of her books. Haven't read Atlas Shrugged yet, which is probably the most famous one.

I can't explain it, but I "get it".

You're right, you're the one who did some work for a HB9 at her house, said you would come back later and finish it, instead sent some AFC to do it for you, to disappoint her. Only then did you go back and force yourself onto her later that night. That's alpha right there.

and Francisco, I do hope you get over your oneitis and go after one of those HBs you are always around.

I agree, but I think you are missing one point. I do think that if people follow Rand too closely, they tend to become too inflexible and humorless, like a Howard Roark Robot. This might lead to problems with girls. However, Randians (a group that I might include myself in) take personal responsibility for their shortcomings, so they end up at a self improvement site (like this).

Thanks dap, for highlighting a couple of your alter-egos.

You may assume you are independent, but did you:

1. Fix that pothole on the road? No the government did, that means you depend on them.
2. Refined and drilled for your own petroleum fuel? No a large company did, that means you depend on them.
3. Got on the internet by yourself? No, a company provided that service.
4. You broke your leg, so you need surgery? Yeah, try explaning individualism helped you fix your leg when the hospital really did that.
5. You design a project, you validly assume this is your own true creation. Sorry buddy, here's the irony..without others that YOU DEPEND on you wouldn't know if your creation was of any worth. If I built a car made out of paper, I'd be a very stupid person to say this is a creative and originally built car.
