Why "Whatever You Want" Keeps You Single

She says the movie looks dumb; you suddenly agree. She tests you with a little attitude; you apologize for nothing.

You think you're being easy to get along with. She reads something else entirely: a man with no edges. Nothing to hold on to. No friction, no tension, no reason to wonder what he really thinks.

The "22 Rules" taught me to push back — playfully, calmly, without needing her approval. Strange things happened after that.

hey fellas..
got a question about something which happened last week at my girlfriends house..

she has a strange family.. the dad is a real cowboy, quite alot of money, rides horses, has a band etc. now he's also quite racist and sexist. he's very much from the old school. but he likes me. he's also had various affairs which his wife and my girlfriend know about.

he seems to disrespect his wife in many ways infront of his 2 daughters and so they do the same. this really annoys me, but really its none of my business to speak up, and could cause troubles within there family if i did.

but when i was over at her house last week some time, he had a little go at my girlfriend, she over reacted in retaliation, and a little shouting match erupted. not too extreme, but she was in tears.. but the cowboy said something along the lines of "see what you've got to look forward too." i think that i just smiled, and later when alone, i reassured my girlfriend that what her dad said was unfair and that i took no notice of it.

but my question is, should i have said something along the lines of "well i've enjoyed it all so far, i don't see why it would change." or even more extreme "treat her right, she'll treat you right, works for me" or did i do the right thing by not getting involved.

thanks guys.

You definitely did the right thing by not getting involved. Watch out for chicks that come from troubled families though.

Not to say that discretion isn't the better part of valor. But let's say the ol' cowboy said something that was out of line, like he just starting picking on her for no reason and it was real harsh. If you truly like the girl you should stand up for her. Chicks dig the protector/provider, also if you look like a puss in front of her because of her old man she won't respect you. She'll start asking herself questions like "why won't he stand up for me?" Women don't stay with weak men. I'm not saying you have to stand up at every single occassion just when a line gets crossed or something small that is easily forgivable. At least that way you're putting in an effort. Sides her old man might respect you for the fact that you are standing up for her, you said he was old fashioned.

On the other hand if she is arguing with her old man because she wants another 5000 dollar mink coat or something B.S. like that. Stay out of it and in fact head the old boy's warning of "this is what you get to look forward too." If she is spoiled maybe you should trade her up for a down to earth girl before things go way south on you.

thanks lads...

i am starting to think, i should "next" this girl..

but then, it doesnt make alot of sense to me..

i think i'm p*ssy whipped.. AFC etc... i can see many imperfections, but i can look past it and see the good in her.. she's also brought out sides in me which have been great.. i feel so much more confident now. more confident in my looks, more confident in being myself around chicks, much more confident in bed. and its only been a little over a month.

tonight was her sisters birthday. on monday night i tutor'd her sister, her sister said "can you get her to stop burping, its really disgusting, we've tried and she won't.. maybe she will for you" i really like her sister, she's very sweet etc.. and i thought, well its good she can burp around me, that she's that comfortable, but it is kinda gross.. i fart around her aswell though.. so i said to her "we'll make a bet, u stop burping, i'll stop farting" more to make her realise its not attractive then win anything. i said if she wins she can have something, or if i win, i can have something.. we didn't end up making the bet official..

but tonight at her sisters birthday dinner she was like "oh i need to burp" me and her sister made some eye contact and kinda smiled... and she didn't burp! i told her later i was impressed.. (but made sure not to mention her sisters and my chat..)

now if i can stop her swearing!

edit:
forgot to mention, another family fight.. i'm not really sure what it was about.. she has a crazy old nan, the nan hates her and is quite nasty.. she got real upset.. it wasn't something i could stand up for her about, but i went and made her feel better... and her dad came in later and they were all happy again, he had apologised for the other thing etc..
so all good... for now.
