I attended a ball recently, where I met quite a few girls. I believe I have figured out where I stand with most of them, but one does escape me.
It was a 90 years jubilee of a sorority. After the ball dance they hosted an afterparty, where two junior members of the sorority served drinks and attended to the bar. I myself am a junior member of a fraternity, and as such was tasked to bringing the folks of my fraternity drinks from the bar downstairs. I spent quite a lot of time doing just that. One of the girls was especially cute and pretty, the other one slightly less so (but pretty nevertheless). I was somewhat flirty with them, especially with the prettier one, albeit I did it more for practice than anything else, as they were a bit too young - ca 19-20 years olf (at least that was my reasoning at that time). After several re-runs the second girl (the less pretty one I had not paid that much attention to) commented (complimented me) on my unifrom (I am a maritime officer and wore my uniform to the ball and afterparty), so I told her a little about myself. She then went on saying that she too had worked on a cruiseferry. We chatted a little, until I went back upstairs. Next time I came downstairs, she called me "mr 7 shorts, 1 long" i.e the General Alarm signal onboard ships. I did not know what to make of it, but seeing as she was still flirty, decided to do (practice) a trick on her. She was slightly confused, but open to my directions. Albeit it took quite some time until she understood what she had to do. As soon as she had closed her eyes and began moving her hands, people at a nearby table started laughing out loud. (Not sure if at me, or at her
) Anyway, upon hearing that, and upon opening her eyes she turned her back towards me and gently waved me off. She basically turned her back towards me and gently moved her arm towards the direction of the door. I left, but was back soon after with a new order. Seeing, as she was still in a happy mood, I decided to quiz her on the subjecgt of Ship Alarms. She seemed to be genuinely interested and too her time, but could not remember the answer, until I told her what it was.
There was a performance in the same room later on, and I saw both of the girls looking towards me, giggling, and speaking with each other.
During the many times I bought drinks from the girls, I had several occasions where I could have gotten away without actually paying for the drinks. It seems I was distracting them, and one of them even accused me of it.
Then again, they had likely no prior experience in manning a bar, and serving people. On a separate occasion, they were both sitting on a pench, and they could not decide which of them will stand up and serve me, so a few seconds later both of them stood up simultaneoulsy, the second girl being quicker, and taking my order.
I will most likely see the girls again soon, but I am still a bit unsure how to react to them. Also, I am a bit of a loss of what to make of her waving me off? Is it a sign of attraction, or a sign of... well, something else?
