"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

I got this idea from an article I read the other day. Feel free to contribute.

A man knows how to read a map
A man knows how to use a compass
A man knows how to make a fire
A man always owns at least one good knife
A man loves dogs. He understands them.
A man never takes dating advice from a woman
A man enjoys the taste of beer
A man is fascinated by natural sciences
A man respects the knowledge of other, wiser men
A man loves his mother
A man never compromises his identity for momentary gain
A man always carries cash
A man feels most alive when he is outside
A man knows how to ridicule
A man can size up a woman on nuance; her makeup, her jewelry, her taste in music or the inflection of her voice
A man does not reel at solitude. He embraces it, and at times must seek it.
A man is never in NEED of a girlfriend
A man respects women, and will tolerate nothing less in return
A man does not take a woman's statements at face value
A man always makes judgments on behavior in the face of conflicting words
A man is not afraid of hard work
A man knows when responsibility belongs to him
A man is not a picky eater
A man is willing to endure some discomfort for a purpose
A man knows when to WALK AWAY
A man does not call back a woman who hangs up on him
A man has a deep capacity for introspection and self-assessment
A man knows when to be polite and when to be blunt
A man can admit when he was wrong
A man does not needlessly apologize
A man can tell you which way is north, where the fish are, or who won the fight
A man has proper manners, should he need to use them
A man knows how to lose an afternoon, or a weekend
A man can be content just watching the leaves for a time
A man does not feel the need to fill silences with meaningless words
A man has boundaries
A man can drive any car, manual or automatic
A man can change his own oil
Maybe he never has, and maybe he never will, but a man knows that he can knock someone, somewhere, flat on his as$.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Hey

What makes a man?
Is it the power in his hands?
Is it his quest for glory?
Give it all you've got,
to fight to the top
So we can know your story

Now you're a man

A man, man man
Now you're a man

A manny manny man
A man man man

You are now a man
You're a man
Now you're a man

Live it, Live it

What make a man?
Is it the woman in his arms?
Just cause she has big t!tties?
Or is it the way he fights every day?
....No, it's probably the t!tties

Now you're a man

A man, man man
Now you're a man-man

Man-man man-man man
Now you're a man

M-A-N, man
Man, man-man man
Now you're a man

If I had to sum up what it means to be a man - it would be individuality

A man is an individual - he does not follow society, or follow what is deemed 'cool' or follow what a girl tells him to do

He has his own dreams, his own tastes, his own morals, and his own style and he never compromises them for anything

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

the great beyond
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

i guess how the males go straight to ****ing when they're in the mood

"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

I agree with the premise, but some of the things you mentioned are situational. Are you supposed to love your mother if she beats you with a coat hanger every night?

I certainly COULD change my oil if I had to, but in my book you are just as much if not more of a Man if you are out there concentrating your talents on things that minimum wage earners CAN'T do and paying someone else to do menial tasks.

Some of these things can't be stated in absolute terms.

That said, I will add a few-

A Man strives to build an empire
A Man is not afraid to LOSE his empire
A Man is a jack of all trades
A Man knows that women ARE inferior in many ways
A Man does not blindly follow
A Man is not afraid to make mistakes
A Man LEARNS from his mistakes and becomes better for them
A Man yearns to explore foreign lands

I disagree with a lot of the garbage spewed in this thread. There aren't many tangible things that define a man.

A man knows himself (physically, mentally and spiritually) and is happy with it, but strives to improve and takes on new challenges.

Some of you need to go watch Fight Club again and pick up some of the underlying meanings.

Holy sh!t you guys this was just for fun. I'm not trying to write gospel here. Like the Miller Lite Man-Laws...? Funny stuff with a bit of truth to it.

A man does not leave a beer unfinished unless he is passed out or getting laid
A man sometimes needs to slay a dragon to get to the maidens
A man does not pass up an opportunity to ridicule potato
A man does not bang his friend's sister without expressed prior consent
A man would never be caught dead wearing skin-tight tapered jeans!!
