I was having this discussion with friends over beers and it became quite interesting as it goes.
To me the characteristics of a real man are as follows.
In no particular order -
A real man is a confident in all that he does without ever being ****y, arrogant or outlandish.
A real man treats people with respect, but also commands respect in return.
A real man never shy's away from a battle, an obstacle and no battle is too great for him to win.
A real man isn't afraid to fail, for he knows through failure and struggle comes success.
A real man is not afraid to graft and work for all that he holds dear.
A real man never cries over spilt milk, he simply cleans it up and moves on.
A real man isn't afraid to have morals and ethics and stands firmly behind them.
A real man always maintains his sense of humour.
A real man never shy's away from his responsiblities. He embraces these responsiblities, because he knows that rights come with responsiblities.
A real man is a family man, is a great friend and even better drinking partner.
A real man cares about his appearance without going over the top.
A real man always maintains tidy and well trimmed haircut.
A real man leads by example, where there is a job to be done, he does it. When someone needs to say something, he'll say it, when silence is needed, he creates it.
A real man lives life with no philosophies other than what life has dealt him.
A real man measures his success by what he does in life, not how many women he sleeps with or dates.
A real man accepts that there is no such thing as perfection and that such an ideal is a complete waste of his time, yet he still maintains that there is room for improvement.
A real man embraces his masculinity without needing to exercise aggression to other males unless warranted.
A real man is not afraid of criticism, can accept when he is wrong and isn't afraid to ask for a helping hand.
Alas a real man died many years ago, the death of the real man occured sometime after the nineteen forties.
