Yeah, it's a Matrix reference. Taking the red pill means learning the sometimes uncomfortable truths in life. Taking the blue pill means holding on to your comfortable beliefs, even though they're not true.
Akin to being Red State (Republican, working man) or Blue State (Democrat, welfare queen).
