Alright Robin Hood....this is absolute BS.

If you stop to think about it for a few seconds you would realize that a minimum wage does nothing but create an artificial floor for wages that actually CREATES HOMELESSNESS.

If the minimum wage for everyone is 7.00 per hour, this means that any job that has a TRUE market value of less than 7.00 leaves some people out in the cold.

Everything should be determined by TRUE market value, and everything would fall into place. These retarded lawsuits against Walmart.....unbelieveable. If someone feels that they are worth more than they are being paid they are free to seek out other employment.

Contrary to popular belief, employers must COMPETE for employees, not the other way around. This is the biggest fallacy in the workplace. the BOSS does not control the wages, the market and the employees do.

Those who artificially, by force, control the resources of the earth control humanity!!! Who are.these people.?????

The argument only applies in a capitalist closed system in which there is no public alternative mechanism by which people can earn a living.

There are plenty of resources to easily provide for everyone's needs, while other enterprising people can still get mega-rich. The only thing that keeps it from happening is people's tunnel vision.

One can try to justify the insanity with pejorative terms ("Robin Hood," "conspiracy theorist," etc.), but if the blinders come off, people will demand it. It's already happened in much of Europe ( the nations in which the quality of life is considered better than the US, despite way less natural resources), and is the direction in which the evolution of economic systems is ultimately heading ...

A free market really isn't "free" if the government is dictating things, is it?

I find it VERY hard to believe that the country would go to shambles if the market would be allowed to operate without interference.

I have to pay unskilled, sometimes BRAINLESS and DISHONEST kids who are barely out of high school a good dollar more than minimum wage. If minimum wage were repealed it wouldn't have a damn bit of effect on my UNSKILLED employees, who incidentally live in a notoriously low wage area to begin with. I wouldn't be able to cut a dime off my payroll. ALl it would do is make the guy who sleeps out in the back of my parking lot EMPLOYABLE and get him off government assistance.

In the real world, such marginalized people often turn to crime, drug abuse, etc., even if sub-subsistence "jobs" are available to them. In fact, the minimum wage is so laughably low, very few people are even willing to work for such a low wage, and find soup kitchens or crime better options as it is. It is no accident that the social democracies of Western Europe -- and even our neighbor to the north, Canada -- have much less of such ills, even with much more liberal laws and less severe punishments for crime.

Yes, there are many areas in which I think the government should be less involved. But the only context in which I could see a sub-living wage as justifiable is where there simply aren't the resources for it -- which is not the case in the US -- not by a long shot.

We'll just have to agree to disagree here, STR8UP. We simply have different paradigms.

This is very telling. This is why grammar is important, but you always see people blow it off as "I don't have time for that sh1t. What's it matter?" or "You understood what i meant anyway." Grammar says more than that whether it's right or not. I know I judge people (and women on their online profiles) by their ability to string together a sentence. Your words simply have more weight if you present them in a way that at least demonstrates that you have command of your words and some intelligence behind them since you shouldn't HAVE to put a lot of effort into fixing up your writing especially here where everyone is getting to be 30+ claiming to be good catches and enlightened individuals. It should be mostly natural by this age.

Look at that recent John_371 or whatever his name was. I didn't even try to make it through most of his posts because they were just too hard to read quickly. There are far too many posts here and every other message board with ideas I want to partake in to bother with the ones I have to get out my Rosetta Stone to decode. Justice and the law is also the proper sphere of government. So when people discuss marriage laws and stuff like feminism that pervert the government, are their threads not political also? Where do you draw the line?

We don't care about what you post. Post whatever you want. The Admin of this site asks that the posters stay away from argument causing political discussions. The Mods are in charge of determing problem posts with Admin as the final judge.

Although we try to practice free speech we also try to keep harmony in the community as best we can.

Indeed DJ Shabazz - I think we have all come to a general consensus on the Matrix. However, what we don't discuss enough, is how to live once you are outside of it?

I now find it hard dealing with other people who are still within it's grasp. I find myself wanting to shake people and tell them to snap out of it. It's like living in a world of zombies!
