What is the little GREEN BOX on the side of every members posts

I have noticed a little green box on the side of every members posts, most of the time it says they are on a distinguished road, sometimes it says they will be famous soon enough, or they are off the scale, or they are an unknown quantity at this time, can anyone tell me what all of this means.

It's the reputation rating gauge or whatever. It's accuracy however is quite dubious.

He said green box, not green circle. 2 different things. I don't think the reputation gauge means a whole lot, especially because the best people to get advice from probably don't use the site that much anymore.
