What is more attractive, tan or pale?

I know very pale girls who are extremely attractive. A celebrity example: Liv Tyler, for instance. I don't know about you guys but I couldn't care less about a girl's skin tone. It is something else that determines her sexual attractiveness.

I'd like to get opinions from girls on whether a tan skin is a turn on or simply just a matter of taste.

I'm doubtful because, even though it's obvious women like well built (not excessively though) male bodies, us guys don't like the same in a woman (we all love a girl with toned muscles but not female bodybuilders)

In fewer words, is tanned skin, like a well built body, something that men don't care about in women, but that women appreciate in a man?

It depends on the girl. Most girls that I know though prefer a tan guy.

Depends on the region I guess, basically it boils down to what is DIFFICULT to have.

In the western countries, the Caucasians "worship" the TAN without any apparent reasons, but actually it all started during the old days (60s, 70s) when it was a sign of status because only the rich people could afford to go to the beaches or on some tropical islands for vacations.

On the other hand, in regions of the world where it's "natural" to have a tan, being white/pale is attractive. Ever seen those Asian girls in Asia walking around with umbrellas during the summer so they won't become "dark" because of the burning sunshine?

Finally, (sorry I know it's a touchy subject) do you guys really think that it's by coincidence that those "black" girls they pick for those music videos have pretty "white" skin?

Global warming and a deteriorating ozone layer means more ultraviolet radiation is gonna shine thru. Obviously, the people with paler skin are going to be more prone to problems in the next few decades if we continue with our industrialism. Therefore, having/being able to get a tan would be a genetic boon.


There are definitely pretty pale girls out there, but give them a light tan and they will look even better.

I don't see a problem with caucasian or asian women who are pale skinned. After all, theres nothing sexy about advanced aging or even skin cancer!

whatever looks natural for a girl. SHake and bake tans kind of annoy me. if you look at alot of women who are older than 30 who have been sun taning forever, age becomes accelerated.

however, alot of people can get tan naturally. I am itialian, so getting a nice tan with the highest SPF sunblock is very easy. Alot of my friends are quite envious because they utalize tanning acceleraters and sunbath, while I stay in the shade and use SPF 45 when I am outside. If I girl is supposed to look tan ( Medditerranian european for example), than they are hot. But if they are supposed to be pale, than thats hot too.

Global warming and the ozone layer are two different things. A thick ozone is what creates global warming first of all. Global warming happens because of the collection of CO2 in the atmosphere, not because of an increase in UV. Second, the ozone layer is not deteriorating. It has been monitored by satalite since the 70s and appeared to be deterierating over the north pole (the "hole"), then around 2002 it suddenly went back to levels it was at 20 years ago. It is now believed to be a natural, fluctuating process unless you believe the popular myths out there. Furthermore, human affect on ozone depletion and global warming is negligable compaired to the natural releases of gas from volcanos.

Le Parisien, I hadn't thought of it but I agree completely. It makes lots of sense that something rare and novel is sexy.

*new* and true|hockey I agree with you too. I'm skin type 2, VERY PALE, blue eyes, dark brown hair. I'm quite good looking, but only recently since I started weight training have I noticed girls looking at my body as we talk in the same way that I'd look at some girl's breasts if I was drunk. Sans-tan.

My dermatologist says, with my skin type it is a VERY bad idea to tan, even to be out on the sun for too long (it is VERY sunny here, I'm Spanish). I can tan very well, but I don't want to risk my health for it.

They say that with every skin type. Asking a dermatologist if it's a good idea to tan is like asking Bush if it's a good idea for guys to fvck each other.

And if you can tan very well, you don't have type 2 skin. Sounds to me like you have type 3 like me (Italian, brown hair/eyes).

It's curious you say that. I think it makes lots of sense.

My dermatologist assumes I cannot tan. He said I'd go red like a lobster and not gain any colour. (I visited him at a time in which I hadn't tanned for 2 years).

I can get a really dark skin tone in a matter of weeks without getting red at all, while using sunscreen.

Makes me think how true his advice about tanning really is.

Overly tanned if a person is white can look stupid though.

I think skin that's paper white is ugly.

It's about your taste really, but MOST people think a little tan is bonus.
That's why there's things like solariums invented.
