"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

As my relationship of 8 months is going tomorrow (my choice this time), I'm getting pretty discouraged with the LTR.

On the AskMen site, they have an abundance of articles on how to break up nicely. I was good reading to be sure.

I also got the impression that a series of short term relationships is all you should really expect anymore.

Opinions, is this the way it feels to you?

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.

I've had a few relationships since I split with my ex-wife. I had one for three months, one for nine months, and I'm now in one that's been going for seven which I have no desire to terminate. You can have any kind of a relationship you want after divorce.

The nine month one wasn't right for me. I kinda knew that from the beginning, but I figured I'd enjoy it while it was fun. I don't regret staying with her for that length of time because we DID have fun. In the last month, she started getting pushy about moving in, kids, marriage, and whatever. I repeatedly told her that I wasn't interested in any of that, but she kept pushing. It eventually got to the point where I had to end it. She was pretty fvcking upset.

There's no easy way to do it. I keep saying this... Many guys here will tell you that the manly way to break up with her is to do it in person. I disagree. Do it any way you want. How you break up isn't going to affect her opinion of you, it's going to be how she felt about you during the relationship and how you carried on after the relationship.

If you treated her like a Don Juan should treat a woman and then completely cut contact with her, she'll maintain a very high opinion of you. If you drag out the ending of the relationship, getting back together, breaking up, back together, break up, stay friends, etc, etc, then she's going to hate your fvcking guts.

But the reaction is inevitable. She's going to cry. She's going to be upset. She might be mad. She might smash your car windows. Who knows? But if you want to end it, then do it as quickly as possible. There's no point in dragging something out that you're not interested in.

My last one was eight.
But there was future talk, "ILY's " ...
I would find it kind of difficult to not indulge in these things.

Do you ever say the words knowing there is an expiry?
I've never tried this...

During that relationship of 9 months, she most certainly uttered those words. Personally, I won't say it if I don't mean it, and I never said it once during that relationship. If she pushes for it, just let her know you'll tell her when you feel you're ready to.

Paul Simon - 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover

I am not her man. She can't stand the thought of me touching her. She's dripping with other men's semen. She is ashamed to be seen with me. She never misses an opportunity to disrespect me. Everything I do is wrong. I am the problem. She got what she wanted from me. She says "I hate you so much I could kill you." Going away forever will make her happy again.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

Perhaps this is a skill I have yet to learn.
If I've dated someone for nine months, I'll love them.
I'd program myself for it.

What would be the point in being in a LT relationship without it?

disclaimer: I'm grumpy and all beat up today.
