Post your DVD list, plus the ones you want.

I own:

1. Fight Club
2. Aliens
3. Boiler Room
4. The Fugitive
5. The Hunt for Red October
6. Blade 1
7. Blade 2
8. The Terminator
9. Terminator 2- Judgment Day
10. The Lost world
11. Eraser
12. Platoon
13. Boondock Saints
14. The Mummy
15. the Mummy Returns
16. Batman the Animated Series, Volumes 1 and 3 (This show is worth its weight in gold to me, espescially since the show was on from 1992 to 1995, and I've had to wait about 10 years to see some of those episodes again. It's every bit as good as I remember from watching it as a kid. Although it was designed for kids, its compelling and complex enough for adults to enjoy too.)

I want:

1. The Star Wars Trilogy
2. Star Wars Episode 3
3. Office Space
4. Predator 1 and 2
5. Alien
6. Scarface Anniversary Edition

None.

I just borrow them from the local video store for $1 a week.

However I do want Das Boot and Stalingrad, both of which are too obscure to find at the stores.

Send me a PM, I've got Das Boot coming in a few days from Netflix... it was at #60 something in my queue but it's now at #9. I've got the 8 at a time program right now...

Now, since copying movies is illegal, I can't claim to own any movies. Theoretically, however, I have a bunch - so many that I've got to get over to Wal-Mart soon and buy another DVD case. Perhaps one of those ones that holds 250 at a time. It's hard keeping them in alphabetical order though... in theory. All I can say it's a good thing that Circuit City has DVD's at $7.99 for 25. One bad thing about it all (in theory) is that most DVD burners aren't prepared to handle massive use. Mine could have to be brought back and exchanged about every other month due to it giving up the ghost and starting to make the movies (that I don't copy) skip around and freeze.

Wait, I figured out a way to get them up here:

I used to have about 700, but I sold 600 of them off. Now I just use Blockbuster's internet rental program for $15 a month. Much cheaper.

Unfortunately I'm in a different DVD region from the US, so I can't play any American movies.

Speaking of which, I've got the US version (Region 1) of "Three Kings", if anyone wants that.

there are ways to get around region constraints, but the catch is that you have to play it on your computer.

How much do you want for Three Kings?, and is it in good condition? (by good, I mean no scratches)

Yeah, it probably works on the computer, but I don't usually like watching movies on comps (too small screen).

If interested, I'll sell it for $3 US dollars (plus ~$3 postage). I got it brand new from a friend in the US, played it for about 10 seconds, got the error message, and it's been sitting in the case for the last few weeks. I'll probably stick it on ebay to make any sale more secure.

And they have DVD burners now? I thought only CDs could be copied. Don't dvds have some kind of protection?

while dvds can be copied, its not as simple as putting in the dvd and choosing the copy option.

DVD copying involves ripping, decrypting, and resampling the video, sometimes keeping it in dvd format which can be burned to a blank dvd (little or no quality loss to the actual movie, you just lose the menus and bonus features) , but other times converting it to divx/xvid which makes a file that can fit on 1 CD. Divx/Xvid is fairly good-- the quality is slightly better than vhs. DVD copying is something that it takes practice to do correctly.

I'll think about making the purchase. (I can't commit just yet) Do you accept paypal?

Yep I can take paypal. If you want to make it safe I can put it on ebay as a "Buy it now" auction (my ebay account's got about 100 positive feedback), up to you. Anyway just send me a PM if you're interested in buying it.

Mystery - Gattaca is also one of my favourite movies, I reckon its probably the best motivational movies I've ever seen. Especially for those fat people whining about their crappy genes ;)

Are you kidding? DVD burners have been out for years now... you can pick up a good one for under $100 USD. I wouldn't know anything about it, but I've heard there's a freeware program called "DVD Shrink" that can decrypt, copy, and burn any DVD from any region with two or three clicks.
