Danger and Alle, you guys both make good points but I wanted to elaborate:
Let's look at pharmaceuticals. Drug dealers sell illegal drugs all day long, higher then the cost they invested to obtain them. Drug dealers are not making a good contribution to society as a whole. However, doctors and hospitals are.
Again, the argument should center on "profits." What do you have (product, service, knowledge, etc) that someone would buy for more then it costs for you to create or offer it?
Also as far as a person's "worth," well, it depends on if we are talking about in terms of the IRS or in terms of God. In God's eyes, he's no respecter of persons, so we are all equal in God's eyes. We are all equal in terms of the US Constitution. In terms of the IRS, in terms of business, your value is tied to the amount of revenue you generate. In the eyes of the IRS and the business world, Lebron James is much more valuable then a 5th grade Teacher.
No it doesn't. Let's not even think of "money" as the green stuff with dead presidents on it. In this case, think of money as "profits". Profits are obtained through "selling" something higher then it costs. When I "sell" someone something that generates a profit, it does not necessarily make a good contribution on society as a whole.

This isn't true either. I know MANY artists who make alot of money. Inventors that make alot of money. Motivational speakers and counselors that make alot of money. Protestors can make alot of money if they find a way to turn their protest into a radio show, talk show, or something to generate revenue by bringing together like minded individuals (i.e. Glenn Beck). And all teachers are not poor, it depends upon where you TEACH. I know many teachers making over six figures a year.

To answer the original question, what does it mean to me to be rich? First off, I laugh when people always jump up and say, "Money doesn't mean anything to me!" I've been homeless, trust me, when you have NO MONEY, you can't do shyt which includes feeding yourself.
So let's get real, money does matter. Being rich to me is operating at the highest efficiency and obtaining the best results I could obtain in all areas of life:
> Financial
> Academic
> Fitness/Health
> Social Life
> Love Life
> Family Life
> Spiritual Life
Financial is listed first because (and I'm going to keep it real, unlike those posting that "money doesn't matter") when your finances are not in order, when you don't have ENOUGH money, that affects all of the other areas.
- If my finances aren't in order, I can't pay for college.
- If my finances aren't in order, the stress harms my health, furthermore, I can't afford to eat properly.
- If my finances aren't in order, I can't have a social life. I can't afford to go out, buy clothes, etc.
- If my finances aren't in order, forget a decent love life with a quality chick.
- If my finances aren't in order and I am responsible for a family? God help me!
- If my finances aren't in order, my spiritual life is harmed because I have low peace, low joy, low fulfillment.
Is money everything? To be honest, I think money is the first step to everything. And when I say money it doesn't have to be a million dollars, but you need a decent level of income to be able to live a fulfilled life. Please STOP with the "money doesn't mean anything to me" bullshyt.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.
You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Does the NBA work to benefit all of society or just the sports fan?
