I've liked my friend for a while now. It started off as a small crush, but over time, gradually developed into what it is today. I never wanted to date her before, but now, I always smile when I see her smile. I think it's incredible cute when her nose wrinkles when she laughs.

I just want to date her. To know her.

But anyway, Monday night, I was influenced by a couple friends to tell her how I felt. Sadly, this was through text, but I feel like this is the irrelevant part.

She never replied that night, so I took that as a sign of rejection and left it at that. The next morning when I saw her though, (right before I had to get to an exam), she pulled me aside.

"I'm not ignoring you. I just don't know what to say," was the words she told me.

Taken by surprise, I just said "Oh, it's okay." Later on, in a tired state of mind, I texted her saying "Thanks for clearing up the air. I wish I said this earlier, but anyway, I just felt I needed you to know how I felt."

We haven't talked since. I see her again today.

But does she like me remotely? I feel as if there is some small part of her that does, or else she would have just said "Let's just stay friends" immediately.

My friends tell me that maybe she is waiting to see how much I want a relationship with her, but I also do not want to push her away. Do I just give her time then make a move should she not act upon her words? Or what?

TLDR: I have no idea what she said means. She could have easily just said no, as it doesn't get nicer than "Let's stay friends". So is there a small part of her that likes me? How do I proceed? Give her time? Act? What?

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

She aint into you. Most women once they know someone they like, likes them, they make a subtle simple move because they know its safe to do so without anyone judging her as if shes throwing herself at a man. She hasnt and she wont.

Call her bluff. But she has low interest and is about to LJBF you verbally. A woman who wants you won't leave you in a fog (confused), and will move mountains to see you. Now the courtroom choir sings.

Go ghost. Spin more plates. Your princess is in another castle. And the court said. That's my ruling.

Case closed. Moved to DJ Discussion for more posters' views.

Next time try not to wait when you like someone. The longer you wait the worse it's going to be.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Next time, don't verbalize your feelings. SHOW her you like her by flirting, eye contact, and asking her to do something (a date - but don't say the word date). Then be FORWARD - touch her, escalate, kiss, etc. She will know you like her. That's how you tell her.

That whole process you just did belongs in the "Do Not Do" section.

Next time take all of that energy and courage and put it into one thing, and one thing only: asking her out on one simple date. That is all you need to do.
