"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

This is a little story that happened yesterday and I just wanted to know what you guys thought of it.

So I was standing in line at the airport waiting for my plane and this very cute girl was standing next to me and I could tell she was contemplating cutting in line in front of me because as everyone got up to board a line formed in a funky way and she would have to go way to the back. So I noticed this and said something like...."hey, you can go ahead." So I kinda opened a conversation up saying "Feels good having an "A" ticket doesn't it?" For those that don't know, on Southwest airlines, usually if you print out your plane ticket online you get A, B, or C which means A's can board first and C's board last. Anyway we just started talking and we got in the plane and this is were it shifted. I'm a big fan of planes and I love to fly so I always want a back seat next to the window and she ended up sitting in front next to a window. So that means no window and a middle seat.

Now it wasn't like she said "hey come sit with me" but I just told her...."Have a fun flight....I'm gonna get my favorite window seat in the back." To be honest I really thought nothing of it thinking "maybe I'll catch her when the flight is over but I didn't....actually got a tour of the ****pit......yeah, I'm a nerd when it comes to planes. Plus after the flight two girls I know called me while I was in the sky so I called them back.

So the guy I work with was getting on my case saying "Damn dude, you turned down a hot girl for a window seat? She must have felt awful that you didn't want to sit by her." That got me thinking. Then tonight I was talking to my best female friend and she said that I screwed up and should have sat next to the girl.

My attitude was pretty much like "Oh well, no big deal" but I'm guessing next time I should pick the hot girl over my favorite seat. There's nothing I can do about it now, no number, not even a name but what would you guys have done? Maybe the answer is obvious but since I wrote this all out just wanted your opinions.

I also have to add that there are so many beautiful women in airports. I need to take advantage of that situation next time I fly.

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

if you really like planes that much, Forget the chick. I think you're old enough to decide what you want most, whatever it is, pursue that choice. That is my take of it, as long as their is no factor of fear/nervousness/etc clouding your decision.

Yep, that's pretty much what I thought. Two people I brought it up to today drastically thought otherwise.
