What do you think of Italian-Americans....

I don't get it, what's supposed to be wrong with Italians? Alright, they can be loud and seemingly agressive/passionate about things but that could be said about other nationalities too. What's the big deal?

I don't think it's Italians in general, just Italian-Americans. When you think about it, who were the ones most likely to come here? It wasn't the well off ones in Italy, it was mostly the poorest most low-class Italians and Sicilians that moved here out of desperation and had no jobs and no future in Italy. So that probably explains the difference in behavior and why we had all the crime and mafia and aggressive personalities.

It's hard enough for Americans to appreciate one another, find other nationalities outside the states who truly appreciate Americans are few and far between.

Northern Italians hate Sicilians and S. Italians and most Italian-Americans descend from the southern part of Italy so that probably has something to do with it.

Today, I just drove through the "gavone" and "guido" capital of the United States...STATEN ISLAND, NY.

If you thought it was bad driving through there, just imagine what it's like LIVING there. I mean, after being around them for long enough, you kind of learn to ignore em, but it doesn't really change much. They're still the most obnoxious people (if you can even consider them that) I've ever seen or met. God I hate them...

I've gotta agree with what others have said, European Italians are WAY different than American Italians. I learned of that during my trip to Italy in 1999. Before going to Italy, I thought all Italians were guido/mafia types, until seeing for myself how it's not.

You go to Italy and you're likely to see lots of guys with long hair, and into rock and metal just like the rest of their European neighbors.

Many metal bands are from Italy. One in particular right off the top of my head that I can think of is Lacuna Coil, although they're more commercial goth/metal. Here's a YouTube clip of 'em.
