Law professors live very sheltered lives, as the author of that advertisement for her own book surely must as well. Ironically, the entire law school system, from lsat to bar admission is tremendously discriminatory, likely in even the ways that are illegal now. Lawyers want everyone to be exposed to litigation except themselves. It's good for business.

It seems that being white, handsome, tall guy is quite bad....you can't sue anyone. Let's eat more at least.

Being black lesbian in wheelchair does not cut it anymore. You need to be ugly and fat too.

Handsome and healthy people are really the minority here. You don't see many of them around. They are the ones need to be cherished and protected.

I haven't seen pretty and young flight attendant in years. Pretty girls on the plane made me feel better. Now I'm just terrified. Not very pretty, old, not smiling or straight up angry old women telling me to buckle up....my calmness goes away.

One thing I don't get. When my company tells me that I am too old or young or tall or short or ugly or handsome or smart or dumb or fat or skinny or just that they don't like me....I fvcking go. Why would I force myself somewhere they don't want me in the first place???

People are not equal. Get over it you fvcking commies. Some are better for some things some for other...and some are good for nothing.

And in California in 2001, Jennifer Portnick, a 240-pound aerobics instructor, was denied a franchise by Jazzercise, a national fitness chain. Jazzercise explained that its image demanded instructors who are "fit" and "toned." But Portnick was both: She worked out six days a week, taught back-to-back classes and had no shortage of willing students.
Um, i've never seen a 240 lb woman who is "toned."

I hugely doubt this. 240 lbs is a large MAN. If I were 240 lbs now and kept my body fat percentage I would be a beast who was "toned." I'll accept this woman is 240 lbs and toned if she also has a mustache.

Oh hell i'm going to google her.
Look what i found. http://feelinggoodfitness.com/
Good ol' fatty fat fitness.
Surprise.

Brownell and Puhl have documented that overweight individuals consistently suffer disadvantages at school, at work and beyond.

Among the key findings of a quarter-century's worth of research: Unattractive people are less likely to be hired and promoted, and they earn lower salaries, even in fields in which looks have no obvious relationship to professional duties.
This makes me question even more why fat people won't stop being fat. I mean, how much damn encouragement do you need? No one likes you, no one likes to look at you, no one wants to talk to you, and no one wants to pay you, hire you, or promote you and still you won't fvcking lose the weight...

AND THE ISSUE IS US?!

Sounds more like everyone's judgment of you is accurate because you have every reason in the world to change yourself, and you STILL DON'T.

And for the love of god, everyone understands that if you work at Hooters or whatever "you should be a hot chick" establishment that if you get fatter regardless of reason you should be out the door. Big deal. As if you can't work as a waitress nearly anywhere. How is judging someone based on looks any different than smarts anyway? It's arbitrary and situationally dependent. I don't need a smart waitress with a little bit of hotness working for my restaurant. I need a hot waitress with just enough smartness to not fvck up the orders. Now i'm discriminating against smart people?! Please. People aren't coming to eat at Hooters for intelligent discourse about the Grapes of Wrath with the waitresses.

Totally off topic, but once I flew from LA to Seoul, on Korean airlines with cute young petite Korean flight attendants. I asked for some scotch, and she happily gave me a glass with ice, and cheerfully re-filled it to the brim every time I asked.

Few years later, on a flight from London to LA, I had a flight attendant that was old, ugly and mean. Every time I asked for some scotch, she gave me those tiny little bottles and looked at me as if I were a criminal.

Back on topic, according to Matt Ridley, in his book on Altruism, he describes how every entity has the number one objective of ensuring it's own survival. In it he uses the legal profession as an example. Divorce lawyers in particular, do their utmost to prolong the divorce, and make it as ugly and lengthy as possible. It's even illegal in most places for each party to use the same lawyer, even if it's in the best interest of a couple who would like to separate as peacefully and as painlessly as possible.

This isn't some kind of a conscious conspiracy, it's just the propagation of ideas and laws that benefit those that practice the laws the most.

A kind of unconscious social evolution.

Interesting. So the best way to have an easy divorce is to just make sure there is nothing liquid there (i.e., sock away all available fund into retirement accounts) so that the divorce lawyers will just file a QDRO on the retirement accounts (if they would not be similar in value) and nothing more, as there wouldn't be anything to pay the fees! Just coming out of a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, I see the benefits of such an arrangement.
