what do you bench?

im just wondering what everyone on this forum had maxed out on the bench press, My max was 245 pounds. That was about 7-8months ago, roday since i havent been working out for about a year i could probably do 225. and i weight about 170lbs. so just wondering how big you guys are on the bench vecause i think that is what determines ur real strength

i weigh 160 the most i ever got to was 285 i haven't worked out in a while but im planning on getting to 300 by the end of the year

i don't get it, so you max out 245 lbs 7-8 months ago yet you haven't worked out for a year whats up with that:trouble:

The only thing being able to bench alot proves is that you are good at benching.
I see guys all the time who always focus on benchpress. They can put up some weight but what happens when you ask them to do a pull-up or a squat?

Do not use bp as an indicator of stength.

FYI at my peak (last summer) I would do 4 sets of 8-12 reps at 205-225 pounds. Now I push 165-195 (195 on a good day, 165ish mostly).

My training is leaning towards hypertrophy rather than strength at the moment. The rep scheme is 4x12, rather than 5x5/4x6.

Last session I used a 40lb db in each hand for 8 reps.
