What Do I Say?

Well today I saw this girl that I liked in the hall and I was wearing some sunglasses. She's like "Why are you wearing sunglasses?" and I said "because it's sunny." And she goes, "well lose them. I'm not talking to you until you take them off." So I just said fine and walked with her and didn't talk. I didn't take off the shades though. Was there a better technique I could've used?
