You might want to check out some of the Camden rentals. They are located in Tampa & St Pete. I lived in both towns during/after my divorce (2010 - 2015 timeframe). The last apt I had in that area was located on north 4th st in st Pete (Camden lakes). I commuted across the Howard Franklin to Brandon every day. I worked 7:30 to 4:00 so the commute worked. Leave later than that and you'll hit heavy traffic.
Also, check out downtown st Pete (central avenue) for nightlife. I think it's much better than the Tampa crowd. And if you like Spanish food go to La Teresita in Tampa. It's good and the prices are reasonable.
